Micah’s passion is helping missionary entrepreneurs, professors and students create the “Next Big Thing” in computational biology, machine learning, scientific instruments and other technology businesses that generate complex intellectual property.
Prior to joining Vanedge Capital, Micah was the Managing Director of C2C Ventures, a venture capital firm that he co-founded in Palo Alto, California in 1999. Previously, Micah was on the faculty of Stanford University for nine years, where he was a Consulting Associate Professor in the School of Engineering.
Micah is a techie and the co-inventor of several U.S. patents related to electronic advertising and genetic engineering, and was recognized in 2003 by MIT Technology Review magazine, as “one of the top 100 innovators of the world” (“TR100 List“) and in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 by Intellectual Asset Management Magazine as one of the world’s 250 “Leading IP Experts” (“IAM 250“). He graduated from Yale University (Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude) and received a Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology.
Prior Investments: Micah was a founding investor in Stack Overflow (2010), Cellular Research (spun out of Stanford in 2013, acquired in 2015 by Becton Dickinson for $120M in cash), BioImagene (spun out of UCLA in 2003, acquired in 2010 by Roche for $100 Million in cash), Judicata (2012), and Hadapt (spun out of Yale in 2011, acquired in 2014 by Teradata).
